Birth Philosohy

Birth is a natural, physiological process guided by the body’s innate wisdom. When supported rather than controlled, labor unfolds through a complex interplay of hormones, movement, sensation, and instinct. In this process, the mother is not a passive patient but an active participant. The choices she makes about her environment, her body, and her care can protect the physiology of birth and strengthen her sense of autonomy. Being informed and supported in decision-making allows birth to become not only a physical event, but an empowering experience that affirms trust in the body and in oneself.

Verb. Movement Rehabilitation and Verb. Birthing Care are two expressions of the same practice; both rooted in the belief that the body heals itself, intelligently adapts, and is best supported in birth when integrated as a whole.

NeuroMuscular Reprogramming (NMR) is a gentle, hands-on manual therapy designed to address chronic tension, pelvic and spinal misalignments, scar tissue, and nervous system regulation. A balanced, responsive pelvis is especially vital during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. NMR helps restore ease and alignment where the body has been holding stress or compensation.

The nervous system governs the birth process. NMR helps to prime the body for optimal restoration between contractions and to prepare for the demands of labor. Using only light, intentional pressure, this work releases tension without force, allowing the body to reorganize itself safely and effectively.

For those who don’t wish to include neuromuscular bodywork, I offer packages that do not include NMR. My goal is always to meet you where you are and support you in a way that feels aligned, informed, and empowering.

Packages

My doula services are intentionally personalized, honoring the understanding that no two bodies, births, or families are the same. Care is shaped around your unique physiology, values, history, and needs, rather than a standardized model of support. By centering individuality, I create space for informed choice, autonomy, and trust while educating you and your partner on possible interventions.

Cesarean Scar Mobilization

Scar Tissue After Cesarean

Although a C-section incision may appear fully healed within 6–8 weeks, this visible healing represents only a small part of the recovery process. Beneath the skin, the deep fascia and connective tissues continue to adapt and heal for months. The body may feel the effects for years if left unaddressed. Scar tissue can restrict movement between tissue layers, altering posture and load distribution through the spine and pelvis. Over time, this may contribute to back pain, abdominal weakness, pelvic imbalance, and compensatory patterns throughout the body.

A surgical scar also initiates a prolonged cycle of inflammation and tissue repair within the nervous and fascial systems. When these deeper layers remain tight or adhered, the body may struggle to fully restore efficient movement and core support. Gentle, informed care can help soften restrictions, improve communication between tissues, and support long-term recovery well beyond the visible healing of the incision.

My Approach

Scar tissue is often described as a “neurological dead zone,” meaning optimal communication between the spinal cord and connective tissue becomes disrupted. When layers of fascia are restricted or adhered, neurological signaling becomes less efficient, or may cease altogether. In the case of a C-section, the incision impacts multiple layers of the abdominal wall, which can interfere with the body’s ability to properly sense, coordinate, and activate the core muscles. This disruption may leave the abdominal muscles unable to fire effectively, even long after the incision has healed on the surface.

My approach to scar tissue care focuses on restoring both mobility and neuronal communication. Through gentle mobilization of the fascia and targeted muscle testing (NMR), we will restore the core’s ability to work synergistically with the pelvic floor and hip flexors. Reestablish efficient signaling, improve muscle coordination, and support the body’s ability to move without pain, stabilize, and heal as an integrated whole.

Work With Me
  • "There are two realities in the birthing world as I see it. One is fear based, often absurd, seeing pregnancy as illness, believing that interventions make benefit greater than risk and using safety as a canard for control. The other is trusting of nature, understanding of the imperfections of life and looking at pregnancy as wellness and a normal function of the female body. I have lived in both worlds and have a unique perspective."

Dr. Stuart Fishbein Blog: “The Hazmat Birth”

  • "We must understand that childbirth is fundamentally a spiritual, as well as a physical, achievement. The birth of a child is the ultimate perfection of human love."

Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, Author of Childbirth Without Fear

  • "Good beginnings make a positive difference in the world, so it is worth our while to provide the best possible care for mothers and babies throughout this extraordinarily influential part of life."
